This collection consists of an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Cassandra L. Maiden and Daardi Sizemore in October 2003. Maiden enlisted as a Unites States Army WAC during the end of the Vietnam War. She received training as a LPN and served in the medical division. Maiden discusses her training and experiences as a woman in the Army. She also discusses what life was like for a nurse at Fort Riley, Kansas where she served. Maiden served from 1972-1975 and achieved the rank of Specialist 4.

The Women's Army Corps (WAC) was the women's branch of the US Army. It was created as an auxiliary unit, the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps in 1942, and converted to full status as the WAC in 1943.
